Recruits of Home Defense Regiment Take Oath of Service - 160 German Army Recruits Take Oath in Stormy Oberhof
Around 160 recruits and reservists from the German Army's Homeland Security Regiment 5 have taken their oath of service in Oberhof. The ceremony, initially planned outdoors, was moved indoors due to stormy weather. The regiment, established over a year ago, is based in Ohrdruf and has companies in Hesse and Saxony.
The recruits, mostly volunteers, will protect critical infrastructure such as power supply substations. The regiment can be deployed domestically during natural disasters like flooding. The oath-taking event in Oberhof marked a significant step in their training, with reservists who had previously completed part-time homeland security training also pledging their commitment.
The newly sworn-in recruits and reservists of the Homeland Security Regiment 5 are now ready for deployment, contributing to the protection of Germany's critical infrastructure and responding to natural disasters.
