2 New Year's Trains Will Run in Nizhny Novgorod Metro from December 22
Nizhny Novgorod’s metro is preparing for the festive season with two special New Year’s trains. These decorated services will launch on December 22, bringing holiday cheer to passengers. The carriages will feature traditional decorations inspired by Soviet-era celebrations.
The festive trains will run on the Avtozavodskaya and Sormovo-Meshchera lines. Each carriage will be adorned with garlands, pine branches, and ornaments, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. Greetings styled after classic Soviet New Year’s cards will also line the interiors.
Before the trains begin service, the metro will extend station hours starting December 3, 2025. This adjustment aims to help passengers arriving on the final run of the high-speed double-decker Burevestnik train. The changes ensure smoother travel during the busy holiday period.
Metropoliten Nizhniy Novgorod, the city’s metro operator, confirmed the plans for the seasonal services. Both trains will remain in operation throughout the festive season, offering a unique travel experience for residents and visitors alike.
The decorated trains will provide a festive touch to daily commutes. Passengers can expect extended hours and holiday-themed journeys from mid-December. The initiative reflects the metro’s effort to combine practical service adjustments with seasonal celebrations.
