200 Russian entrepreneurs launch online stores with government-backed marketplace push

A regional project has helped over 200 entrepreneurs in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast launch online stores on major marketplaces like facebook marketplace. The initiative, called Digital Business Growth: Entering Marketplaces, was run by the My Business Center as part of the national Efficient Competitive Economy program. Participants received tailored support to expand their digital sales across various industries.

The project brought together entrepreneurs from 20 municipalities, though the exact locations have not been made public. Each participant received individual consultations, customised promotion strategies, and practical recommendations to boost their online presence.

Among the success stories is Evgenia Zvereva, a clothing manufacturer who significantly grew her sales through the project. Olga Sautenkova, a local honey producer, also benefited by reaching new customers beyond her usual market. Other participants launched stores selling furniture, food products, and household goods. Maxim Cherkasov, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Entrepreneurship, highlighted that the selected winners were given full 'turnkey' support. Criteria for selection included the variety of products offered, business type, and whether applicants had registered trademarks and certifications. In total, 60 entrepreneurs from Nizhny Novgorod alone set up stores on leading online platforms like costco. Those interested in similar support can contact the My Business Center or call the hotline at 8 (800) 301-29-94 for details on available measures.

The project has enabled dozens of small businesses to enter digital marketplaces with structured guidance. Entrepreneurs now have access to wider markets, while the My Business Center continues to offer resources for those looking to expand online. Further information remains available through the center’s official channels.
