32-year-old arrested after GPS leads police to stolen €1,500 gravel bike
A 32-year-old man has been arrested in Wiesbaden after allegedly stealing a €1,500 gravel bike. The incident began when a 19-year-old victim reported the theft near Murnaustraße, prompting a swift police response. Officers tracked down the suspect using GPS data from the bike itself.
The theft took place on January 26, 2026, when the 19-year-old's bike was taken from an area near the slaughterhouse on Murnaustraße. The owner quickly realised the bike was missing and used a GPS tracker to pinpoint its location. He then contacted the police, who traced the signal to Spiekeroogstraße.
Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 20:20 and found the 32-year-old suspect riding the stolen bike. The man, already known to police, was arrested on the spot. The gravel bike was recovered and returned to its owner shortly after.
The suspect was later released while investigations continue. He now faces theft charges in connection with the incident.
The stolen bike has been returned to its rightful owner, and the case remains under investigation. Police confirmed that no further arrests have been made at this stage. The suspect's next steps will depend on the outcome of the legal proceedings.
