324 Foreign Delegations Visited Nizhny Novgorod Region This Year

Nizhny Novgorod Oblast saw a sharp rise in international activity during 2025. The region hosted major forums, welcomed thousands of foreign visitors, and signed nearly three times as many agreements as the previous year. Officials reviewed these developments at a December meeting of the Public Council under the Ministry of International and Interregional Relations.

Over the year, the oblast became a hub for high-profile events. It held the 12th Forum of Russian and Belarusian Regions, the 2025 Global Digital Forum, and the SO.ZNANIE (CO.KNOWLEDGE) ECG Forum. These gatherings drew 324 delegations from 145 countries—an increase of nearly 50% compared to 2024.

The region also strengthened its global connections. Twenty-eight agreements on joint projects were signed with foreign and Russian regions, up from just ten in 2024. While no new country-level partnerships were formally announced, the ministry focused on deepening ties with Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, and China were among the key partners engaged in 2025. Human resources also expanded. Three graduates from the *Yury Fokin School of Young Diplomats* and the *Nizhny Novgorod International Club* joined the ministry’s team. By the end of the year, the region had hosted nearly 4,000 foreign guests, reinforcing its growing role in international cooperation.

The December 23 meeting of the Public Council marked the close of a busy year. Officials noted the rise in delegations, agreements, and global engagement. The region’s push to broaden partnerships and develop young diplomats suggests continued expansion in 2026.
