4 SUST Election Commissioners Resign Amidst Irregularity Allegations
Four commissioners of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology's (SUCSU) Central Students' Union election commission have resigned, the SUST registrar confirmed. The commissioners, who stepped down on Sunday night, cited personal reasons. The election commission has yet to announce the election schedule, and the SUCSU chief election commissioner has not been officially informed.
The commissioners who resigned are Professor Razwan Ahmad, Professor GM Rabiul Islam, Professor Md Ashraf Siddiqui, and Professor Mohammad Monjur-Ul-Haider. Their resignations come amidst allegations of irregularities and lack of transparency in the election process. The last SUCSU and hall union elections were held in 1997, a gap of 28 years. The resignation letters were submitted to the university registrar on Sunday night.
The resignations of the four commissioners have raised questions about the upcoming SUCSU elections. The election commission has not yet released the election schedule, and the SUCSU chief election commissioner has not been officially informed about the resignations.
