81 Monkeys and Drugs Seized in Thai Border Smuggling Bust
Thai authorities have stopped a major smuggling attempt at the Cambodian border. The operation involved 81 monkeys hidden in sacks on a pickup truck. Officers also uncovered illegal drugs during the arrest, leading to charges against the suspects.
The incident unfolded when border officials inspected a vehicle crossing into Cambodia. Inside, they found the monkeys crammed into bags, alongside crystal methamphetamine and unidentified pills. The discovery prompted an immediate investigation.
The arrested individuals now face prosecution under wildlife protection and narcotics laws. The 81 monkeys remain under the care of specialists at the sanctuary. Officials continue to monitor the border for similar illegal activities.
