85-Year-Old Driver Causes Early Morning Chaos in Kreuzberg Crash
An 85-year-old man caused a serious traffic accident in Kreuzberg early on Monday morning. The incident began when his Opel struck a temporary traffic light pole while reversing along Dudenstraße. Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of injuries and severe disruption.
The accident unfolded just after 1:25 AM. The driver, moving in reverse, first sideswiped a 55-year-old woman’s Volkswagen. He then continued backwards across the central island, mounting the opposite pavement near the pedestrian crossing on Mehringdamm.
The intersection has since reopened, but the investigation remains ongoing. The injured woman remains in hospital, while the driver’s condition was not classified as severe. Authorities have yet to release further details on potential charges or the cause of the collision.
