A Century-Long Teaching Legacy Brings a Khabarovsk Family to Moscow’s Spotlight

A teaching family from Khabarovsk Krai will soon take centre stage in Moscow. The Antonenkos, hailing from Vostochnoye village, have been chosen to represent their region at the Labor Dynasties exhibition. Their multi-generational dedication to education has earned them this honour.

The Antonenko family's story began with Mark Yefimovich Antonenko, who started as an elementary school teacher. During the Great Patriotic War, he shifted to training and educating new recruits. His descendants followed in his footsteps, shaping the education system in Khabarovsk Krai for decades.

In 2010, the family received official recognition from the Governor of Khabarovsk Krai. Their contributions to local schools and teaching were formally commended. Now, their legacy will be showcased alongside 200 other families at VDNKh in Moscow.

The exhibition, running from November 25, 2023, to February 15, 2026, highlights professions passed down through generations. While most participating families remain unnamed, the Antonenkos will stand as representatives of their region. Authentic documents, archival photographs, and personal collections will bring their story—and others—to life.

Organisers aim to present Khabarovsk Krai as one of the Far Eastern Federal District's most dynamic areas. The event will feature families from across Russia, each with deep roots in their respective fields.

The Antonenkos' journey from a rural village to a national exhibition reflects their lasting impact on education. Their participation in Labor Dynasties will put Khabarovsk Krai's educational heritage on display for years to come. The exhibition remains open to visitors until early 2026.
