A Symbol of Hope and Community

A symbolic ceremony took place in Gera on December 18, 2025, as the city received the Peace Light. Lord Mayor Kurt Dannenberg accepted the flame from a local Scout troop during a gathering at City Hall. The event brought together residents to reflect on peace and solidarity.

The Peace Light was handed over by the Scout troop Foxes by the Campfire during a short but meaningful ceremony. Dannenberg thanked the group for their contribution, describing the flame as a powerful symbol of hope.

The event took place inside Gera’s City Hall, where attendees paused to consider themes of unity and humanity. While details about the troop’s activities remain private, their role in passing on the Peace Light was central to the occasion.

The ceremony concluded with the flame now in the care of the city. Dannenberg’s words highlighted its significance as a reminder of shared values. The Peace Light will remain a focal point for Gera’s community in the days ahead.
