Aachen's 'Innenstadtmorgen' Initiative Named Best Practice for City Revitalization
The 'Innenstadtmorgen' initiative, launched by Aachen's Department of Civic Dialogue and Administrative Leadership, has been recognised as a best-practice project on the 'Stadtimpulse' platform. This initiative aims to revitalise and enhance the appeal of cities and municipalities, and has successfully brought together people from across Aachen’s urban air community to shape a shared vision for the city centre of the future.
The 'Stadtimpulse project pool' is a comprehensive collection of successful initiatives focused on city centres, retail, and urban life, established in response to the COVID-19 crisis by key stakeholders. The initiative, named 'Toolbox für das Stadtzentrum' (Toolbox for the city center), was initiated by the city administration of Aachen and presented by the city administration of Cologne at the German Urban Marketing Messe in Münster on September 16, 2022.
The 'Innenstadtmorgen' initiative was launched in 2022 to develop a shared vision for Aachen’s city centre and establish new forms of civic participation. Aachen’s City Management has compiled the 'Toolbox for the City Center' to make participation opportunities more transparent and serve as a strategic resource for developing the city centre through coordinated efforts. The 'Stadtimpulse' projects were selected by an expert jury, which includes representatives from the initiating organizations and the project coordinator.
The recognition of the 'Innenstadtmorgen' initiative as a best-practice project on the 'Stadtimpulse' platform is a testament to its success in revitalising and enhancing the appeal of Aachen’s city centre. The initiative has brought together people from across the urban air community to shape a shared vision for the city centre of the future, and has been commended for its outstanding contribution to city centres, retail, and urban life.
