AAP MLA slams BJP’s rural cuts, demands MGNREGA fund revival and bill withdrawal
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kuldeep Dhaliwal has launched a sharp attack on the central government’s rural policies. He accused the BJP-led administration of slashing funds for key schemes and undermining local governance. His remarks mark a fresh escalation in the party’s opposition to central policies.
Dhaliwal focused his criticism on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The central government allocated ₹60,400 crore for the scheme in the 2023-24 fiscal year. He claimed this amount was insufficient and left rural communities struggling.
He also demanded the withdrawal of the Gram Panchayat Bill. According to him, the proposed law weakens panchayat authority and obstructs rural development. Dhaliwal argued that the BJP is pushing an 'urban agenda' into villages, shutting down essential projects.
The AAP has repeatedly challenged the central government on economic, unemployment, and welfare issues. Dhaliwal’s latest statements align with the party’s broader strategy of opposing BJP policies on multiple fronts.
Dhaliwal’s demands include restoring the original MGNREGA scheme and scrapping the Gram Panchayat Bill. His accusations highlight ongoing tensions between the AAP and the central government over rural funding and local governance. The dispute is likely to intensify as political debates over welfare policies continue.
