AfD Youth Association Founded in MV - 120 Members - AfD’s New Youth Wing Generation Deutschland Quietly Expands in Eastern Germany

A new youth organisation linked to the AfD has established its first branch in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The group, named Generation Deutschland, held its founding meeting on the island of Rügen with little public attention. Unlike its predecessor, this organisation operates under direct control of the party.

The Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania chapter was formed six weeks after the national launch of Generation Deutschland. It currently has 120 members, making it the largest state branch in eastern Germany. Alexander Tschich, an AfD policy advisor in Schwerin, was elected as its chairman.

The new group replaces Junge Alternative (JA), which the AfD dissolved in early 2025. While the JA functioned as an independent association with loose ties to the party, Generation Deutschland is now fully integrated into the AfD’s structures. Membership in the party is no longer optional for participants. The JA had previously been classified as far-right by Germany’s domestic intelligence agency. Official records show Generation Deutschland adopted its founding statute on 29 November 2025 in Giessen, though the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania branch formed later without public announcement.

The establishment of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania chapter marks a shift in how the AfD organises its youth wing. With 120 members, it is now the largest regional group in eastern Germany. The organisation’s closer ties to the party signal a change from the previous, more independent structure.
