Afghan man caught with 11 forged IDs at German border checkpoint
Federal Police at Kehl train station arrested a 24-year-old Afghan man on December 25, 2025. Officers stopped him during a routine check after he failed to provide valid travel documents. A search of his luggage uncovered eleven fully forged Afghan ID cards hidden inside.
The incident took place on a train arriving from France. Border officers questioned the man after he could not show proper identification. During the inspection, they discovered the fake documents in his belongings.
The suspect told authorities that the people listed on the forged IDs were his relatives. Despite his claims, officials determined the papers were entirely counterfeit. Police confiscated all eleven documents at the scene. Following the discovery, the man was denied entry into Germany. He now faces charges for procuring false official identification and attempting to enter the country unlawfully.
The case has been handed over to prosecutors for further investigation. The suspect remains in custody while legal proceedings continue. Authorities have not released additional details about the ongoing inquiry.
