The event kicked off with a performance by Joy Wendo & Friends. Lord Mayor Katharina Pötter then welcomed attendees. The first prize went to the Vocational Schools of Osnabrück County in Melle for their work in Uganda and Ghana, empowering young women through education and self-determination. The second prize was awarded to Class 4a of Freiherr-vom-Stein School in Oesede for projects like a flea market fundraiser and a game based on the Sustainable Development Goals. The ceremony concluded with performances by Class 4a and Joy Wendo & Friends.

Professor Dr. Karl-Heinz Hornhues, a key figure in the foundation, stressed the importance of strengthening ties between Africa and Germany, especially involving youth. The Africa Prize serves as a call to action, urging responsibility, solidarity, and active shaping of a more peaceful world.
