Air Canada reveals extensive cabin revamp blueprint for 25 regional Dash 8-400 aircraft
Air Canada has unveiled an exciting upgrade program for its regional fleet, with the Canadian carrier set to become the first in the world to provide free Wi-Fi onboard its Dash 8-400 aircraft. The announcement was made on September 19, 2025, and the changes are expected to be completed by mid-2026.
The upgrade program will be implemented on 25 De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft operated by Jazz, the airline's regional partner. The aircraft will be equipped with next-generation ergonomic seats from Expliseat, each featuring a seatback multi-use device holder for tablets and phones, as well as a table tray.
Mark Nasr, Executive Vice President and COO at Air Canada, expressed his pride in the upgrade, stating that it reflects the airline's commitment to serving customers with care and class. He further mentioned that the design details and comforts of Air Canada's largest jets will be brought to the Canadian-made Dash 8-400, making even the shortest flights feel special.
Doug Clarke, President of Jazz, shared similar sentiments, stating that the investment in innovative seating, refreshed cabin interiors, and industry-leading onboard Wi-Fi reflects a shared commitment to safety, operational excellence, and delivering exceptional customer service.
The free Wi-Fi will initially be available to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) travelers from October 2025. By mid-2026, all 25 aircraft will be upgraded, with each seat featuring new branding and design language on the seat's dress cover.
Air Canada has already fitted 97% of its mainline Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge aircraft with next-generation connectivity systems for Wi-Fi sponsored by Bell. This latest upgrade is a testament to the airline's dedication to keeping its customers connected, even during their shortest flights.
The upgrade aims to provide passengers with a heightened level of comfort and convenience, making their travel experience more enjoyable. With the installation of 78 seats per plane, which will remain on the same pitch, passengers can look forward to a comfortable journey while staying connected.
This major upgrade program is part of Air Canada's ongoing efforts to improve its services and provide an exceptional travel experience for its passengers. The airline continues to lead the way in innovation and customer service, setting new standards for the aviation industry.
