Air Force Sergeant Stuns Son with Emotional School Reunion
Amare Gore, a fourth grader at Kemp Elementary School in Powder Springs, received an early Veterans Day gift this year. His father, Master Sgt. Osei Gore, returned from a seven-month deployment in Iraq to surprise him during a school celebration.
Master Sgt. Gore, a member of the U.S. Air Force, had planned the surprise reunion for months. He arrived at Kemp Elementary School unannounced, just as students were singing patriotic songs to honour veterans.
Amare was overwhelmed with emotion when he saw his father. He had expected Master Sgt. Gore to return at least a week later. The pair paraded the halls together, much to the delight of the students and staff.
After leaving Kemp Elementary School, Master Sgt. Gore planned to surprise his other child at another Cobb County school before spending the rest of the day together as a family. The surprise reunion was a heartwarming reminder of the sacrifices military families make and the joy of their reunions.
