Turkey firmly rejects claims linking Turkish Technic to the maintenance of the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that disaster claimed 241 lives onboard and more on the ground. The Turkish Directorate of Communications for Countering Disinformation depicted these accusations as fabricated disinformation, designed to distort public sentiment towards Turkey-India relations.

Air India Crash: Turkish Company Disclaims Involvement in Aircraft Maintenance

In the aftermath of the devastating Air India crash in Ahmedabad that claimed the lives of 241 passengers and several ground personnel, Turkish authorities have categorically denied any involvement in the maintenance of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that met with the tragic accident.

Turkish Technic, the firm allegedly associated with the maintenance, has dismissed the claims as "false" and "disinformation aimed at manipulating public opinion regarding Turkey-India relations." According to the Directorate of Communications Center for Countering Disinformation in Turkey, these accusations are unfounded.

TheTurkish firm's agreements with Air India, effective in 2024 and 2025, only cover maintenance services for B777-type wide-body aircraft. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, unfortunately, falls outside the purview of this agreement. Turkish Technic confirms that they have yet to perform any maintenance on any Air India aircraft of this model.

On Friday, the Center for Countering Disinformation stated, "Under the agreements made between Air India and Turkish Technic in 2024 and 2025, maintenance services are provided exclusively for B777-type wide-body aircraft. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner involved in the accident does not fall within the scope of this agreement."

While aware of the company responsible for the most recent maintenance of the crashed aircraft, Turkish Technic has chosen to remain silent on the matter to avoid any unnecessary speculation. The Center for Countering Disinformation reiterates its commitment to monitor and address any attempts to undermine Turkey's reputation on the international stage.

Martin Wilson, Air India's CEO, has announced plans to shift away from Turkish Technic for heavy maintenance, opting instead for facilities in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, or the US. This drastic move comes after a high-level investigation into the crash, along with a committee chaired by the Home Secretary, evaluating existing safety protocols and recommending improvements.

The tragic accident has unleashed a wave of grief across nations, with Turkey expressing solidarity with the Indian people in their time of despair. The aviation industry remains on high alert, awaiting insights into the crash's cause and potential implications for future safety protocols.

  1. Despite Turkish Technic's agreement covering only B777-type aircraft, the public opinion regarding their role in the Air India crash maintenance has been affected.
  2. The aerospace industry, given the recent tragedy, is closely monitoring revelations about the crash's cause to make necessary adjustments to safety protocols.
  3. In light of the accident and the high-level investigation, finance sectors, especially those involved in airline industries, might see altered partnerships as Air India considers shifting maintenance facilities from Turkey to other regions such as the Middle East, Southeast Asia, or the US.
