Airbus' Commercial Aircraft division will be led by Lars Wagner starting January 1, 2026

Lars Wagner, currently the CEO of MTU Aero Engines AG, is set to take over as CEO of Airbus' Commercial Aircraft business from Christian Scherer. The transition is scheduled to begin on 1st November 2025, with Wagner officially taking the reins on 1st January 2026.

Wagner's career with Airbus began in December 2003, where he held various management positions across sites in Bremen, Hamburg, and Toulouse. He left Airbus in June 2015 to join MTU Aero Engines AG. During his time at MTU, he rose through the ranks, starting as a Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President in charge of OEM operations before being appointed CEO in January 2023.

Wagner's educational background includes a degree in mechanical and aeronautical engineering and an MBA. Prior to his role as CEO at MTU, he held several management positions at Airbus. He will also join the Airbus Executive Committee upon his return.

Christian Scherer, who has had a career spanning over 40 years with Airbus, will remain as CEO of the Airbus Commercial Aircraft business until 31st December 2025. The exact role he will take on after this date is not specified in the text.
