Aircraft touches down at Ben Gurion Airport following emergency declaration
On Monday evening, an emergency situation unfolded at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. A passenger plane operated by Arkia Airlines, bound for Tel Aviv from Rhodes, declared an emergency due to a suspected landing gear malfunction.
The Airbus A320, carrying around 160-161 passengers and crew, made multiple attempts to land, with reports suggesting between three and four approaches before a successful landing. Remarkably, there were no injuries reported among the passengers and crew.
The malfunction appears to have affected one of the plane's front wheels, causing concern during the landing attempts. The incident prompted Ben Gurion Airport to temporarily suspend takeoffs and landings as emergency response teams were positioned on the runway as a precaution.
Security and rescue forces were also dispatched to the scene to ensure the safety of all involved. The plane was ultimately able to touch down safely, with all wheels deployed, marking the end of a tense situation.
