Airlines Japan Air Lines (JAL) has extended its support contract with Collins Aerospace for their Boeing 787 fleet in the Asia-Pacific region.
Collins Aerospace and Japan Airlines Renew Contract for FlightSense Program
Collins Aerospace and Japan Airlines (JAL) have announced the renewal of their contract, which includes the use of the FlightSense program for the management of JAL's Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet. The news was shared during the Aviation Week MRO Asia-Pacific 2025 event in Singapore.
The FlightSense program, a full lifecycle support solution by Collins Aerospace, will be collaboratively managed by both parties. The agreement spans a period of 10 years, with potential for future deliveries extending beyond 2035.
The program covers air management systems and electric power components across JAL's existing fleet of over 50 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft, as well as future deliveries through 2035. The Ascentia analytics platform, a component of the FlightSense program, interprets millions of aircraft data points to identify performance trends and provide actionable insights.
Kyohei Takizawa, Vice President of Procurement at JAL, expressed satisfaction with the renewed contract. He stated that the extended analytics services are intended to drive operational efficiency and reduce lifecycle costs for JAL.
Collins Aerospace will provide asset, logistic support, certified repairs, and predictive health maintenance through the FlightSense program. The Ascentia analytics platform is expected to make JAL's preventive and predictive maintenance even more accurate.
The renewed contract is considered important for improving the quality and parts management of JAL's Boeing 787 fleet. The FlightSense program integrates predictive health maintenance with analytics-powered recommendations, aiming to help JAL tailor maintenance decisions and improve operational efficiency.
The contract also includes a five-year extension of JAL's Ascentia® analytics services. This extended analytics services will enable Japan Airlines to leverage advanced data insights for operational efficiency and reduced lifecycle costs.
