Australian payment platform Airwallex is expanding its presence in Germany after officially entering the market in 2023. The company, now valued at €6.9 billion, has already signed up over 1,500 German businesses—mostly fintech, e-commerce, and SaaS firms. Its services include instant cross-border payments, multi-currency accounts, and online payment processing for companies of all sizes.

Airwallex first launched in Germany with fintech Moss as its inaugural client. Since then, it has rapidly grown its customer base, targeting small and mid-sized enterprises. The platform processes 68% of transactions instantly and provides local account details in multiple international markets.

Operating in Europe under a Dutch e-money licence, Airwallex can serve clients across all EU countries. The company competes directly with payment providers like Wise, Adyen, and Stripe, supporting over 200,000 global customers. In 2025, it reported recurring revenue of around US$1 billion.

Looking ahead, Airwallex plans to invest €31 million in Germany over the next five years. The goal is to attract several thousand active customers in the country, further strengthening its position in Europe's largest economy.

With a strong foothold in Germany and a growing list of local clients, Airwallex continues to expand its financial services across Europe. The company's investment and rapid customer growth signal its ambition to become a leading payment provider for businesses in the region. Its instant processing and multi-currency solutions remain key selling points for international trade.
