AJP forms 12-member committee to steer Assam election campaign

The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) has set up a 12-member committee to manage its campaign for the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly election. Party general secretary Jagadish Bhuyan announced the formation of the group, which will handle election strategies and preparations in the coming months.

Chandrakanta Das will lead the committee as its chairman, with Kamal Nayan Choudhury serving as vice-chairman. Basanta Deka and Krishna Gopal Bhattacharyya have been named chief advisers, while Shamsher Singh takes on the role of chief convenor.

The remaining members include Chittaranjan Basumatary, Raju Phukan, Amrit Khataniar, Ziaur Rahman, Girin Talukdar, Amitabh Borthakur, and Nikhil Bhattacharyya. Together, they will oversee campaign planning, outreach, and other key tasks ahead of the polls. As an opposition party, the AJP aims to strengthen its position in the state assembly. The committee's work will focus on organising events, coordinating volunteers, and refining the party's election approach.

The newly formed committee marks a key step in the AJP's election preparations. Its members will now begin planning campaigns and strategies for the upcoming vote. The party has not yet announced its central themes or candidates for the election.
