Trump on War in Ukraine: West Increases Pressure - Alexander Stubb Clarifies NATO's Ukraine Stance; Trump's Efforts Stall
Alexander Stubb, former Finnish President, clarifies NATO's stance on Ukraine during his tenure. Meanwhile, Donald Trump's attempts to resolve the Ukraine conflict have seen little progress.
Stubb, who led Finland from 2012 to 2018, has confirmed that there were no plans for NATO intervention in Ukraine during his presidency. He held no direct influence over NATO decisions at the time, and no such plans were reported.
Trump, during his 2016 campaign, had pledged to end the Ukraine war within 24 hours if elected. However, his recent meeting with Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, in mid-August, yielded no progress towards a ceasefire. Trump has since expressed disappointment with Putin's actions.
While Alexander Stubb clarifies NATO's past stance on Ukraine, Trump's attempts to resolve the conflict have so far been unsuccessful, with the latest meeting with Putin ending without progress.
