Alexandria Board to Discuss Major Parking, Traffic Changes in Old Town
The Alexandria Traffic and Parking Board is set to discuss significant changes to parking and traffic in Old Town. The meeting, to be held in person and via Zoom, will cover proposals for pay-by-phone parking, curb cut appeals, and road improvements.
The Board will consider a proposal to allow drivers to pay for on-street parking via their phones along three residential streets: the 900 Block of Cameron Street, the 200 Block of North Alfred Street, and the 200 Block of Wilkes Street. This move aims to enhance convenience for drivers.
Also on the agenda is an appeal for a curb cut at 1612 Princess Street. The Board will weigh the arguments and make a decision.
Public involvement is encouraged. Residents can submit their comments in advance to [email protected], no later than 24 hours before the meeting. The removal of parking spaces for crossing improvements on Cameron Mills Road at Woodland Terrace will also be discussed.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers (301 King Street) and can be accessed via Zoom. Additionally, proposed test lane and speed limit reductions on Yoakum Parkway and Reinekers Lane will be discussed, highlighting the Board's commitment to improving traffic flow and safety in the city.
