Alexandria City Council to Discuss Flood Mitigation Grants and Appointments on October 14
The Alexandria City Council will gather on October 14, 2023, at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting will be broadcast live and streamed online, with public participation via Zoom or phone. Key agenda items include considering a resolution for flood mitigation grants, oral reports from the Vice Mayor and City Manager, proclamations, ordinance readings, and board appointments.
Vice Mayor Sarah Bagley will deliver an oral report on the Council of Governments Board of Directors. City Manager James Parajon will provide an update on the state of the economy. The council will consider a resolution supporting a grant application to the Virginia Community Flood Preparedness Fund for flood mitigation projects. Proclamations will be presented to recognise National Disability Employment Awareness Month and Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
The council will hold first readings on several ordinances, including a rezoning of 3333 Helen Street and updates to environmental management regulations. Contested appointments will be decided for 12 boards and commissions, and uncontested appointments will cover 15 additional positions. Resignations from nine board members across various commissions will be processed.
