Alexandria's General Election Sees Strong 53.4% Turnout by 4 PM
Alexandria's general election is seeing a steady turnout, with 53.4% of registered voters casting ballots by 4 p.m. Angie Maniglia-Turner, Director of Elections, reports a smooth day with no long lines and voters in good spirits.
As of 4 p.m., about 23.9% of Alexandria's registered voters have turned out to vote in person. This adds to the early and by-mail voters, making up the total 53.4% of registered voters who have cast ballots. If the city's turnout mirrors the 2021 gubernatorial election, an additional 30% of registered voters are expected to vote on Election Day.
By noon, 16% of Alexandria's total registered voters had voted in person. Naomi L. Brooks Elementary School and the Mount Vernon Rec Center have been the most active precincts, with about 25% and 23.5% turnout respectively. The Mount Vernon Rec Center has 4,516 registered voters, while Naomi L. Brooks Elementary School has 2,576 registered voters.
With steady turnout and voters in good spirits, Alexandria's general election is shaping up to be well-attended. The city is on track to surpass the 2021 gubernatorial election's turnout, with key precincts like Naomi L. Brooks Elementary School and the Mount Vernon Rec Center leading the way.
