All Saints’ Church to undergo seven-year heritage restoration project

The All Saints’ Church, a regional cultural heritage site, is set to undergo a comprehensive restoration project. The Russian Orthodox Church and private donors have funded this seven-year endeavour, which aims to revive the church's historical charm.

The project will address several issues, including replacing the leaking iron roof and treating the wooden rafters. The brick façade decorations, damaged over time, will be repaired. The interior will be recreated in its original style, offering visitors a glimpse into the past.

The surrounding pavement and granite base cladding will be preserved and restored, while the adjacent nuns' cells will also receive attention. A modern balcony, added during the Soviet era, will be dismantled to maintain the church's historical integrity.

Experts have noted that bird droppings have eroded the masonry beneath the dome. The drainpipes, deformed and non-functional, will be replaced to ensure proper water drainage.

The restoration project of the All Saints’ Church is a significant undertaking, expected to take seven years. The Alexander Nevsky Novo-Tikhvin Convent has commissioned an expert review to ensure the project's success. Upon completion, the church will stand as a testament to its rich history and cultural significance.
