Almaty Celebrates Republic Day with Pride and Festivities
Almaty is buzzing with activity today, celebrating Republic Day with a variety of events. The city hosted the patriotic campaign Atameken, an artisans' and artists' fair, environmental initiatives, and more. The day began with a flag-raising ceremony at the Medeu ice rink complex, followed by a festive concert at the Palace of the Republic.
The flag-raising ceremony was a solemn affair. The 40-meter tall flagpole was adorned with a 7 by 14-meter flag, which was hoisted to the top as a military brass band played the state anthem. The event was attended by Almaty Mayor Darkhan Satybaldy, along with public figures, city officials, representatives of various organizations, and residents and guests of the city.
On the eve of Republic Day, Mayor Satybaldy presented state awards to Almaty residents who have significantly contributed to the country's socioeconomic and cultural democracy. Aidar Yesenbekov, head of Almaty’s Internal Policy Department, highlighted the deep significance of the ceremony.
As the day drew to a close, the Kok-Tobe TV tower was illuminated with a special architectural lighting display, adding to the festive atmosphere. The city of Almaty has celebrated Republic Day with great pride and enthusiasm, honouring its history and looking forward to its future.
