Almaty Mayor Visits Key Cultural and Educational Hubs for Future Upgrades
Almaty Mayor Darhan Satybaldy recently toured two key educational and cultural sites in the city. His visits to the Palace of Schoolchildren and the Almaty Museum aimed to review their progress and discuss future improvements. Both institutions play a vital role in the city’s cultural and educational life.
The mayor began his tour at the Palace of Schoolchildren, a centre for extracurricular education since 1983. Each year, over 15,000 students aged 6 to 17 attend classes in science, arts, and sports. During his visit, Satybaldy observed robotics sessions and classical music lessons in action.
The facility itself includes modern classrooms, laboratories, a swimming pool, a planetarium, and creative studios. While no recent updates on renovations were mentioned, the mayor stressed the need to boost the centre’s technical and material resources.
Later, Satybaldy inspected the Almaty Museum, home to nearly 40,000 artefacts across 11 themed halls. The museum’s exhibits trace the city’s thousand-year history, now enhanced by new multimedia tools. LED screens, interactive kiosks, and projection installations have been added to make visits more engaging.
The mayor praised these upgrades but also highlighted the importance of preserving Almaty’s heritage. He called for better access to cultural sites, ensuring both residents and tourists can explore them more easily.
The visits underscored the city’s commitment to education and heritage. Satybaldy’s focus on improving resources and accessibility suggests further developments may follow. Both institutions remain central to Almaty’s efforts in nurturing young talent and safeguarding its history.
