Almaty Region’s economy surges with record growth and rising exports
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Marat Sultangaziyev, the governor of Almaty Region, to discuss the area’s economic progress. The governor presented key figures, including a 1.8-fold increase in the region’s gross product over three years, now standing at 6 trillion tenge.
Almaty Region has seen strong economic growth in recent months. The short-term economic indicator for January–October reached 109.7%, reflecting steady expansion. Exports of manufactured goods jumped by 28.5% in the first nine months of the year, hitting $618.5 million, with high-value-added products making up 90% of shipments.
The region’s economic growth is backed by rising exports, tourism, and efficient farming. With ongoing investment projects and presidential directives, Almaty Region aims to further strengthen its industrial and agricultural sectors in the coming years.
