Almaty’s Kalkaman metro station races toward early completion with 24/7 construction
Almaty Mayor Darhan Satybaldy has visited the Kalkaman metro station to review its construction progress. The site remains active 24 hours a day, with over 478 workers pushing to finish ahead of schedule. Key developments include completed excavation in one tunnel and advanced structural work at the station itself.
The right tunnel’s excavation is now largely finished. In the left tunnel, crews have laid all the tracks and installed lighting, cables, water supply lines, and drainage systems. Brackets for technical equipment are also in place, setting the stage for further security upgrades.
With round-the-clock construction and key milestones reached, the Kalkaman metro station is moving closer to completion. The installation of safety and operational systems will follow shortly. If the contractor’s accelerated schedule holds, the station could open sooner than expected.
