An Old Corpse and a New One - Alpine Death's Frozen in Time unravels a murder tied to Ötzi the Ice Mummy

A gripping new crime thriller series, Alpine Death: A Mountain Crime Thriller, is set to captivate viewers with two key episodes airing this March. The first, Frozen in Time, premieres on Tuesday, March 24, at 8:15 PM on RTL. A repeat broadcast of the series opener, Old Wounds, will follow on Tuesday, March 31, at the same time.

The episode Frozen in Time begins with the discovery of a man's body in a scree field. Initially, investigators assumed it was a tragic accident. The victim was later identified as Timo Aichinger, who had only recently returned to his hometown of Maisching after twelve years away.

Forensic pathologist unavailability led to forensic archaeologist Marie Sonnleitner joining the case. The investigation took an unexpected turn when a thousand-year-old glacial mummy, named Ötzi the Ice Mummy, was uncovered nearby. The ancient find sparked public fascination but also complicated the murder probe.

Early leads pointed to two suspects: Aichinger's sister and the mayor's son. Meanwhile, the episode delves into the personal lives of the investigative team, including Commissioner Birgit Reincke's troubled past.

The discovery of Ötzi the Ice Mummy added layers of intrigue to an already complex case. Viewers can watch Frozen in Time on March 24, while Old Wounds returns on March 31. Both episodes air at 8:15 PM on RTL.
