Altai Republic wins 28.2M rubles for cultural revival projects

The Altai Republic has secured significant funding through the 2026 Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. A total of 28.2 million rubles will support local projects after a successful second grant competition. The region’s achievements include backing for festivals, animation, and folk traditions. The Coordinating Committee selected 725 winning projects from 87 regions across Russia. Among them, the Republic of Altai stood out with multiple successful bids. The Shebalino Cultural Center’s ShebalinoFest and the Ellen-Tuu Center’s OynoFest: A Cultural Initiative were both approved for grants.

The Morevna animation studio also gained support for *Ochy-Bala: An Animated Altai Epic*. Another key project, led by the Zernyshko Art Center, will revive Russian folk traditions in rural communities. These efforts follow over 4.16 billion rubles allocated nationwide for culture, the arts, and creative industries. The Altai Republic Development Corporation played a crucial role in guiding applicants. Their organisational and methodological support helped local groups prepare strong submissions. Now, the corporation plans to expand assistance to grassroots organisations, nonprofits, and municipal institutions seeking federal funding.

The grants will fund festivals, animation, and folk heritage projects across the Republic of Altai. The Development Corporation has committed to ongoing support for future applicants. This funding is expected to boost cultural and creative activities in the region over the coming years.
