Altefähr Fire Brigade Gets €200K for a New Fire Engine

A new fire engine is coming to the Altefähr Volunteer Fire Department in the Vorpommern-Rügen district. The state has approved a special-needs grant of around €200,000 to fund the replacement vehicle. Interior Minister Christian Pegel will officially hand over the funding notification next week.

The grant will cover the cost of a modern fire engine, set to become the primary emergency response vehicle for the local brigade. It replaces an ageing model that has served the community for over 35 years.

The €200,000 grant ensures the Altefähr brigade will receive a fully equipped, up-to-date fire engine. Once delivered, the vehicle will take over as the main unit for local emergencies. The replacement marks a significant step in modernising the district’s fire service infrastructure.
