AmCham Vietnam unites under first national leadership board
AmCham Vietnam has reached a historic milestone by forming its first unified national leadership body. The new structure brings together members from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and central Vietnam under a single board. The election took place on March 16, marking a major shift for the organisation.
The newly elected National Board consists of 27 members representing the Chamber's diverse membership across Vietnam. While the exact breakdown of regional representation remains unclear, the board now oversees all three key regions. Members from both the northern and southern chapters voted overwhelmingly to approve a new charter, establishing this national framework.
The unified board aims to improve coordination and strengthen advocacy efforts. By consolidating its leadership, AmCham Vietnam expects to have a greater influence on policymakers and business partners. Mark Gillin, the newly elected chair, described the change as a move toward 'one AmCham, one board, and one unified voice' for all members. Founded in 1994, AmCham Vietnam is one of the largest international business associations in the country. It represents over 650 corporate members and more than 3,000 individual professionals. The organisation focuses on promoting trade, commerce, and investment between the United States and Vietnam.
The creation of a single national board replaces the previous regional structure. This change is designed to streamline decision-making and amplify the Chamber's impact. The new leadership will now work to advance the interests of US businesses operating in Vietnam.
