In a continuation of the ongoing conflict, the Houthis, a Yemeni rebel group, have reportedly shot down a seventh American drone in April 2025. According to Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the group's military spokesman, the drone was intercepted using a locally produced surface-to-air missile. The drone was conducting 'hostile missions' in Yemeni airspace at the time of the interception.

This latest incident comes amidst intensified U.S. airstrikes on Yemeni cities since March 15. The operations, which have reportedly resulted in hundreds of casualties, are part of a campaign to neutralize Houthi threats to international shipping lanes and regional allies, as Washington calls it. U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that these strikes have specifically targeted Houthi leadership, weapons depots, and command centers.

The Houthis, led by Brigadier General Yahya Saree, have continued to respond to these attacks. They have also claimed to have targeted two U.S. aircraft carriers, USS Harry S. Truman and USS Carl Vinson, in operations carried out in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea.

Despite these sustained U.S. attacks, the Houthis have allegedly strengthened their military capability in recent weeks. Saree declared that the group's military capability has only strengthened in recent weeks despite sustained U.S. attacks.

It's important to note that Dr. Mansour Al-Maswari, a Yemeni academician, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia University-Global Center, Amman. He has extensive experience in university-level teaching, research, and copy-writing, but there is no indication he plays a direct role in current events in Yemen.

The conflict in Yemen, which began in 2015, has resulted in a humanitarian crisis with millions of people in need of aid. The situation remains complex and volatile, with no clear end in sight. As the conflict continues, it's crucial that all parties involved prioritize the protection of civilians and the pursuit of a peaceful resolution.
