Animal Repellent Attack on Berlin S-Bahn Leaves Four Injured
A violent incident at Berlin-Ostkreuz station left four people injured early on Sunday morning. A 26-year-old Guinean national allegedly sprayed animal repellent during an argument on a moving S-Bahn train, prompting a police investigation into grievous bodily harm.
The attack took place at around 5:15 a.m. on a train approaching the station. Witnesses reported a heated verbal dispute between the suspect and two passengers before the repellent was sprayed. Four individuals were affected: a 45-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman required hospital treatment, while two others, aged 24 and 46, sustained minor injuries but refused medical help.
Police arrived quickly and detained the suspect. Officers confiscated the weapon and secured video evidence from the scene. The man remains in preliminary custody as federal authorities examine the case. This follows a separate but unrelated incident in Dresden, where a 16-year-old Syrian national was arrested on December 30, 2025. That suspect, already known to police, faced charges including assault, attempted robbery, and robbery linked to events on November 28 and December 24 and 28, 2025. After processing, he was released without further detention.
The Berlin suspect now faces a federal investigation for grievous bodily harm. Authorities continue to review evidence, including video footage, to determine the next steps. Meanwhile, the Dresden case remains under scrutiny by the public prosecutor’s office.
