Spice Merchant Ankerkraut Recalls Certain Products - Ankerkraut recalls spice blends after metal fragments discovered in production
Ankerkraut has recalled several spice products after metal fragments were found during production. The company warns customers not to consume the affected items, which were mainly sold in North Rhine-Westphalia. Three specific batches have been identified as potentially contaminated.
The issue came to light on March 3, 2026, when German food authorities confirmed the recall. The affected products include Gänse- und Entenbraten (75g, best before 22.01.2029), Gyros spice blend (80g, best before 10.02.2029), and Smoking Zeus Trockenmarinade BBQ-RUB (200g, best before 29.01.2029). Ankerkraut traced the contamination source and quarantined it, but some tainted batches may have already reached shoppers.
Customers who bought these items since January 23, 2026, are advised to throw them away or return them for a full refund. Despite the recall, no complaints from consumers have been reported so far.
The recall focuses on specific jars of roast seasoning, gyros blend, and dry marinade. Ankerkraut has taken steps to prevent further risk, but affected customers should check their purchases. Full replacements are available for returned products.
