Airbus Appoints Jürgen Westermeier as President and Managing Director for India and South Asia

Jürgen Westermeier, currently the Executive Vice-President and Chief Procurement Officer at Airbus, has been appointed as the President and Managing Director for India and South Asia, effective September 1, 2025. In his new role, Westermeier will oversee Airbus operations across Commercial Aircraft, Defence and Space, and Helicopters in the region.

Westermeier will lead commercial aircraft sales and expand Airbus’ footprint in India and South Asia. He will also drive regional expansion including services, engineering, digital innovation, and training. Westermeier's appointment comes as part of Airbus' commitment to the “Make in India” initiative, and he will help advance this vision by aligning company campaigns with this mission.

Prior to joining Airbus, Westermeier started his career in 1998 at BMW. He held strategic positions across Information Services, Motorcycles Purchasing, Quality Management, Supplier Network, and Cost Engineering. Westermeier's industrial engineering background may contribute to his strategic decision-making and problem-solving skills in his new role at Airbus. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.

Westermeier joined Airbus as Chief Procurement Officer in 2020, and in this role, he has demonstrated his ability to manage complex operations and drive strategic growth. In his new role, he will be responsible for all aspects of Airbus' business in India and South Asia.

Rémi Maillard, the current President and Managing Director for Airbus in India and South Asia, will become Executive Vice-President Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology at Airbus. Westermeier will succeed Maillard in his new role.

With Westermeier's extensive experience and expertise, Airbus is poised to make significant strides in India and South Asia, expanding its footprint and strengthening its commitment to the region.

In his new role as President and Managing Director for India and South Asia, Jürgen Westermeier will oversee Airbus operations not only in Commercial Aircraft but also in Defense and Space, and Helicopters, expanding the company's footprint in aerospace and finance sectors. Westermeier will be responsible for driving regional expansion including services, engineering, digital innovation, and training, thereby strengthening Airbus' business in India and South Asia.
