Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested After Month-Long Manhunt in Bavaria
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a beverage store in Waldkraiburg. The incident, which took place on December 23, left an employee injured after being shot. Police launched an extensive search before capturing the suspect in Ampfing on January 16.
The robbery occurred when the man entered the store and opened fire, striking an employee. He then fled with several thousand euros in cash. Despite a large-scale operation involving patrol cars and a police helicopter, officers initially failed to locate him.
A breakthrough came when investigators searched a hotel room rented by the suspect. Inside, they discovered a loaded firearm. The weapon has since been seized for forensic analysis to determine whether it was used in the crime. On January 16, police arrested the man in Ampfing after an intensive manhunt. The following day, an investigating judge ordered him to be held in pretrial detention. The Traunstein Public Prosecutor’s Office and Criminal Police are now leading further investigations to clarify the details of the case.
The suspect remains in custody as authorities continue their inquiries. Forensic tests on the recovered firearm will help establish its connection to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Traunstein Public Prosecutor’s Office.
