Armenian Tycoon Tsarukyan Returns to Politics, Crowding Opposition Landscape

Armenian tycoon and opposition politician Gagik Tsarukyan has made a comeback to national politics, adding another prominent name to the opposition landscape. His return coincides with the emergence of another business-driven political initiative, 'Our Way', led by Narek Karapetyan. Both movements emphasize professionalism and clean hands as prerequisites for political participation.

Tsarukyan believes that Armenia's current situation requires dialogue and consolidation, stating that no single person or party can pull the country out of its predicament alone. He has unveiled a new programme, 'Offer to Armenia', which aims to unite capable individuals from various professional sectors. The programme will be built on realistic assessments of Armenia's current capabilities and resources.

Tsarukyan's re-entry has been welcomed by the leader of the Democratic Alternative Party, Suren Surenyants, who has confirmed that his party will join forces with Tsarukyan's bloc for the upcoming 2026 parliamentary elections. Meanwhile, other high-profile figures such as former President Robert Kocharyan and ex-human rights defender Arman Tatoyan have also signalled their intentions to participate in next year's elections.

With Tsarukyan's return and the emergence of 'Our Way', the opposition landscape in Armenia is becoming increasingly crowded. Both initiatives aim to bring professional and capable individuals into politics, promising a more competitive election in 2026.
