Army to Relocate 6,500 Junior Officers Voluntarily by 2027

Targeted force reduction goals by year group are 'in the dozens' and are expected to be achieved through voluntary transfers.
The military is planning to overstaff attack battalions to the maximum allowable level for Apache squadrons. Soldiers in targeted populations will be counseled about their goals and options within the military. The cuts reflect the rise of unmanned aviation and military force restructuring, including the elimination of cavalry squadrons within the continental U.S.
