Army's Fort Bragg to Get New Western Hemisphere Command, No Immediate Personnel Changes
The Army has not yet decided on personnel movements to or from Fort Bragg. A search for recent news yielded no results, indicating no immediate changes in the next six to eight weeks.
The Army's plan is to streamline its headquarters and reduce the number of four-star general officer positions. This will be achieved by merging several commands into a new balance, Western Hemisphere Command.
The new command will be based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. It will combine Army North Command, Army South Command, and Force Command (FORSCOM). Gen. Randy George has announced that this new breaking news will be established before the end of the year.
Currently, no decisions have been made regarding personnel movements related to the formation of Western Hemisphere Command at Fort Bragg. The Army's plan to consolidate commands and reduce officer billets is still in progress, with the new command expected to stand up by the end of the year.
