Arson attack on Viersen Park & Ride halts regional train services

A fire at a Park & Ride lot near Viersen station has disrupted rail services across the region. Unknown attackers set cables alight on Sunday evening, November 30, around 6:30 p.m. Authorities have now launched an arson investigation into the incident.

The blaze broke out in the Park & Ride car park on Güterstraße, close to Viersen station. Police confirmed the damage was deliberate and are treating the case as suspected arson. A 22-year-old man from Viersen, seen near the scene at the time, is now under investigation.

The attack has caused significant disruption to local and regional train services. Repairs are underway, but delays and cancellations will continue until the damage is fully fixed. Investigations remain ongoing as police seek more information about the incident.
