Artist Marcus-Andreas Mohr Presents Imprisonment Memoir at WIR Festival
Local artist Marcus-Andreas Mohr will present his photo book '#verhaftet - a site visit' on October 3, 2025, at 5 PM during the WIR Festival in Halle. The book, a personal processing of his experience, is a contribution to remembrance culture and will be published by the Mitteldeutscher Verlag in early 2026.
Mohr's unexpected release from imprisonment in 1987, after being arrested in the GDR and held in a detention center in Halle for eight weeks, inspired the book. The Art Foundation of Saxony-Anhalt funded the project, which will be published by the Mitteldeutscher Verlag.
An introductory lecture and guided tour will be offered at 2 PM on October 3, 4, and 5, 2025, at the memorial site, which will be open from 1 to 5 PM on those days. Admission to the event is free.
The memorial site will host an event featuring Marcus-Andreas Mohr's photo book '#verhaftet - a site visit' from October 3 to 5, 2025. The book, a personal account of Mohr's imprisonment and release, is a significant contribution to remembrance culture and will be published in early 2026.
