Aschaffenburg's 'Festival of Diversity' Wins Prestigious VIEL Award for Promoting Youth Unity
The 'Festival of Diversity' in Aschaffenburg has been recognized for its exceptional work in promoting diversity and anti-racism among youth. The Bavarian Youth Ring awarded the festival the prestigious VIEL Award in 2025, honouring its outstanding commitment. Over 1,500 volunteers and more than 120 groups have contributed to the festival's success each year.
The festival, a cultural mainstay in Aschaffenburg for over four decades, was honoured at a thank-you event on September 18, 2025. The celebration, held at the JUKUZ, was filled with warmth, good food, drinks, and music. Festival director Andi Hefter expressed gratitude to volunteers, youth associations, and helpers for their creativity and dedication in making the festival a place of encounter for diversity.
Katharina Ziegler, chairwoman of the city youth ring, thanked all involved for their passion and perseverance in shaping an open, colourful, and solidarity Aschaffenburg. Jörg Farbig, head of the culture department and festival organizer, described the festival as a flagship project that promotes diversity on an equal level. Mayor Jürgen Herzing praised the festival for demonstrating the true meaning of diversity and community, even in challenging times.
