Assam approves new police station in Golaghat District to boost infrastructure
A new police station building will soon be constructed in Golaghat District, Assam. The state government has allotted land for the project, marking another step in upgrading local law enforcement infrastructure. Over the past five years, 12 stations in the district have been selected for similar redevelopment.
The Revenue Department handed over 5 bighas of government land on Thursday. The plot, located in Basapathar within Bordihingia revenue village, sits near a tributary of the Dhansiri river. It is also close to National Highway 37, improving accessibility.
The allotment documents were formally given to Gayatri Bhattacharya, the Officer-in-Charge of Kamargaon police station. This transfer follows a broader effort to modernise police facilities across Golaghat District.
The new building will replace the existing Kamargaon police station. Construction will take place on state-owned land, ensuring long-term stability for the facility. The project aligns with Assam's ongoing push to upgrade law enforcement infrastructure in the region.
