Assam blends culture with road safety in unique awareness drives

Road-safety awareness programs were recently held across key venues in Assam’s Kamrup Metropolitan district. Organised by the local transport department, the events combined cultural performances with educational sessions to promote safer driving habits. Traditional ceremonies and musical tributes marked the start of each gathering.

The initiatives took place at five locations: Nalbari’s Sri Sri Harimandir, Dimoria College, Malaybari, Gandhi Nagar, and Lakhra. Each session began with a welcome ritual featuring xorai, gamocha, and tamul-pan, hosted by actor and anchor Bipul Bora.

The programs reached multiple communities by blending awareness with cultural respect. Officials used music and traditional ceremonies to reinforce safe driving messages. The events were part of broader efforts to reduce road accidents in the region.
