Assam Focus celebrates a decade of ethical journalism with Orang festivities
Assam Focus, a digital news portal launched in 2017, is marking its tenth anniversary with a two-day celebration in Orang. The event began with a flag-hoisting ceremony and a tribute to martyrs, reflecting the organisation's dedication to responsible journalism and community engagement.
The anniversary festivities kicked off with Naba Kumar Deka leading the flag-hoisting ceremony. Alongside him, Shivaram Bora and nine other distinguished guests raised ten flags to symbolise the milestone. A solemn programme honouring martyrs followed, setting a respectful tone for the occasion.
The celebration also included interactive events for the local community. Drawing and quiz competitions were organised, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and residents. These activities aimed to foster engagement while reinforcing the portal's connection with the people. Since its founding by a group of journalists in 2017, Assam Focus has prioritised people-oriented reporting. The anniversary serves as both a reflection on its journey and a reaffirmation of its commitment to ethical, community-focused media.
The two-day event in Orang highlights Assam Focus's decade-long presence in digital journalism. By combining commemorative ceremonies with public participation, the organisation has underscored its role in Assam's media landscape. The celebration also signals its continued focus on responsible reporting and community ties.
